BY FALLING SAFENathan Fluellen^ one of the oldest* and roost . reliable colored workmen of • Sparta^m.^doiiday about noon while helping to move tb» City'of Sparta's safe from the SavingsHank Building to the new office over*Bakers* store.The workmen, were pulling the safeup the stairs with a block and tackle♦and the fastening gave way at the top of the steps. Nathan was the only oneof the workmen between the ’safe and*the,bottom of the stairs. The safe came j backwards down the'steps like a bullet and it la nothing short of miraculous how he escaped with bis life. The result was a badly crushed foot and lower leg, which Dr. Pugh hopes can be saved if no complications set in.Nathan worked for a number t»f years at the Georgia Railroad freight office afid was experienced in doing heavy lifting. Hs white friends-sympathize with l him in his misfortune while the city fathers are doing everything possible for his comfort.
