Mr. W. Hockey, of 46 Clifton-street, replaces Mr. Lacey, who has resigned, as secretary. The resignation of Mr. Martin has placed Mr. W. J. Clulow, of 22 Bridge-road, in the treasurer’s chair. Mr. Dyamond. the hon. instructor, is considering the advisability of transforming the Boys’ Band into a military band. To do so will necessitate the Inclusion of from 30 to 40 wood wind instruments (piccolos, flutes, oboes, clarinets, saxophones and bassoons) and there would be from 90 to 100 performers. It is anticipated that within two years the R.J.B.B. will be the largest amateur brass band in the Commonwealth. There are 52 members, and over 80 other names are on the register waiting to fill any vacancies. In addition to instructing the boys on their various instruments, Mr. Dyamond will teach theory and harmony, and the young students will thus be given an opportunity to pass a senior grade examination according to the papers laid down by Trinity College and the London College of Music. Such an undertaking has not previously been known in Australia. All instruction is free.Mary Garden, Operatic Star, Enters the Films.—Thais at the GlobeWaal/other Harcoi agreed the c(ThMiss ; sent c should who 1 but wi presen imprac
