A letter was received last week from Albert Horst, by P.S. Thomas, after the heavy fighting in France between the 1st and 6th of June. He states that he was with troops occupying trenches at the same spot where the Canadians were first ganed earlier in the war, and a ter rible encounter took place, the par ticulars of which he cannot give. A letter was also received from Privates Hogg and Boddy who both came through the trying ordeal un injured. They both report being well. Gordon Cavanagh has also written home saying that he was with Eric Bowen-Smith at the time he was killed while assisting wounded comrades, in spite of the fact that he had received a wound by being hit in the face by a bullet; one hour after which he was in stantly killed.
