Special to The Republican.Windaor, duly 8.-—A terrific fight between Cornelius Murphy and a bulldog owned by William Paine took place here yesterday afternoon, and It was only after Mr. Murphy's right arm had been lacerated from fingers to shoulder that the brute desisted and was pulled off.The animal was killed this morning by Marshal Jesse Forbes and Murphy was resting easily and expected to recover without any serious consequences. There is thought to be no danger of hydrophobia.It is said that the dog has bitten two other persons and that it has been known as a vicious animal for some time. Murphy claims that he was quietly passing the Paine home when the dog sprang at him and before he could escape had bitten him.The dog is a valuable animal and was highly prized by ths Paines.
