Riot at Wigan.—An alarming riot took place at Wigan, on Wednesday night, on the occasion of the delivery of the Baron de Camin’s lecture. The Roman Catholics first attacked the hall where the lecture was delivered, but on the reading of the Riot ct, the police, assisted by a large body of people, drove back the assailants, and captured a number of prisoners. All the men taken were armed, some of them with most dangerous weapons, which they fortunately had not much opportunity of using. The mob on the other side, composed of Orangemen and colliers, determined to make reprisals, and the most disgraceful rioting took place till midnight, the windows of the Roman Catholic Chapel and of the houses in the Hibernian quarter were destroyed, and two men were so seriously injured as to leave little hopes 1 of their recovery. ^ —---—
