FACES RATTLESNAKE WHILEHANGING ON NARROW LEDGEFacing a colled rattlesnake on a narrow ledge of rock with a sheer drop of 20 to 30 feet with one backward step was the harrowing experience of O. J. Salo, of the Bear tooth Curio and Art store in Red Lodge. Armed with a short sawblade he had climbed to the ledge to get a red cedar tree for his souvenir work when he found the rock already occupied.The heavy-bodied rattler was active, curling at once into the threatening coil ready to attack. Salo grasped a limb of the tree he sought, sawed it off while he watched the snake al-| most at his feet. The warning rattle came Just as he got possession of the severed tree-branch and the satisfactory end of the experience came in a ! few brief seconds.Eight rattles adomed the nether end of the rattler, and a fine hide was another trophy of Salo's day's souvenir j hunting._. :
