Something More About the “Fowl River’ Bridge. To the Editor of The Item , Having read the communication’ In your paper of Friday Just signed resi dents of Fowl river and asking to be rightfully informed on the subject, I wish to say that some people in this county do not know where they live, and, again, as Mr. Bauer stated, the bridge across Fowl river was in good condition and did not need repair. I will state that the bridge of which they speak does not cross Fowl river at all, but is at the old Sibley mill site on the Isle l’Oul (or Goose island river) where stands the twenty-second mile-post on the old military road at what is now called Prosser station on the M. B.S. R. R. And I wish to say that the Isle 1’Oul river is a branch of East Fowl river, has its mouth ‘at Parker’s and is no more Fowl river than the Arkansas, Red, Missouri or other branches are the Mississippi. I write this to try and correct an erroneous idea that strangers coming into this settlement may be rightfully informed as to where they are living. EDWIN A. DELCHAMPS. Alabama Port, July 2, 1911.
