‘Tuskegee, July 4.—(Special,)—A_— pri mary election was held here Monday for the purpose of nominating 4 representa tive to the legislature and county super intentendent of education. Mr. J. R. Wood, a former representative, received the nomination over Mr. H. P. Merritt by 160 majority. Mr. George Rutherford was nominated over Mr. Ben McLerren by over a hundred majority. ‘The remains of Mr. James Wood, whose death occurred in Tuscaloosa, were brought here to his old home for inter ment a few days ago. Messrs. Robert and Bibb Wood of Montgomery, brothers of the deceased, were here to attend the funeral. ‘The county commissioners have been very busy this week examining the tax books. Hon. Charles’ P. Lane of Huntsville, ‘was summoned here this week on account of the lines of his daughter, Mra. Abur= cromble. Mr. Ben Howard, Mr. Luke Mizelle and Mr. Amner DeBardeleben are at home from the Philippines. Mr. E. R. Alexander has returned from the University of Virginia, where he has been taking a course in ‘in. ‘Mr. Bernard Oswalt has returned from the United States military academy at West ‘Point.
