Juls 3, i Special)— Castro county farmers are harvesting a record wheat crop, the golden grain being quickly turned into cash and bank deposits are skyrocketing, rt ts the best harvest since 1929.An average of 1,500 truck loads of wheat daily have come in here since the rush started. Most of the wheat tests above 80 to 64 pounds per bushel. Seldom does the test run below 60 ounds,Irrigated wheat land is yielding 18 to 50 bushels and more. Dry land wheat rangfs in yield from 7 and 8 to 25 to 30 bushels.It, has been seven years smcc the town has had such crowded streets. Local stores, especially cafes and restaurants, are doing a land office business. There are new people here and rooms are hard to get.Farmers are paying off old debts, both at stores and banks, Filling stations are busy with implement houses reporting calls for repairs increasing.Rust ha. damaged. wueal to a certain extent. Yield total will be reduced on manv farms.
