C. A. Broadwater in the interest of theGreat Northern Railway company. The report would, if true, seem to determine that the route for the extension of that road had been already selected. Colonel Broadwater was seen by a reporter ofTho Journal last night and, in answer to an inquiry, said:“You may deny absolutely and emphatically the whole story. I have had nothing to do with any purchase of land in that country.I have understood that a largetract of land had been bought by*a let of speculators, who, to create the impression that the Great N orthern railway was behind them, so as to induce purchasers to invest in their land, have started the report that j, was interested in the deal. I do not know who composes the • syndicate connected with the scheme, but I know that I have had nothing to do with it. The president of.that road, Mr. J. J. Hill is now in New York for the very purpose of determining which is the best route to the west. Mr. Hill has taken east with him full da:a as to the different routes, with the engineers’ estimates and recommendations, and I think that the matter will be settled at this meeting and work begun wr.hin thirty days.” In answer to an inquiry as to what, in his opinion, would be the route selected, the colonel replied: “I am abso-lutlv in ignorance of just what-4 O *'will be done by the company.]\Is.NORTH STILLWATER NUGGETS.FEC
