C., June 39, 1874.4 Eorror Journal:—Thiel would like to hear of the people northern portion of the county and they. arg..daingy tell you of a nice little Masonic co tton and barbecue we had on ‘the Tung, at Mr. Henry Cato’s. Vega invited to attend, being of the nysti¢ brotherhood. ‘Therefore, on the morme” ing of that memorable day we wender our way to Mr. Cato’s. On arrivin we found that a good many had prece ded us and that active preparations were going on. We were not required to wait long, however, before the lemonade and lager beer were dispensed with a free and hearty good will, very much in accordance with the order of the day. Together with these, farming and the general topics of the day were freely, and pleasantly discussed until, eleven o'clock, when Mr. A. G. Willians, W. M. Edisto Lodge, assembled all Maso in the hall, and opened on the first de gree in Masonry in order to allow E. A. Masons to participate in the procession, as well as the festivities of the occasion. Soon after, Capt. E. W. Perry, acting marshal, proceeded to form the proges sion and then marched to dinner, where’ we found a table bountifully ladened with just such good things as hungry, men like to indulge in for their stomach’s sake. We are not sure but that a of us, had we not remembered that ¢ dinal virtue, “temperance in all this would have been the worse off for day! ‘imposed too much on our stomachs: ‘digestion, we are inclined to believe, though that the organs on that agt especially, were eupectic.
