This forced Upper Adams manager Eric Gladhill into a pretty precarious position of having to put players into positions that they normally don’t play. The final score reflected this as Upper Adams were slammed 26-3 by a ‘Mifflin team that treated the game like an extension of batting practice, Upper Adams starting pitcher, Zach Ditmer, who played right field in Monday’s game, couldn't escape the second inning giving up three runs before he was replaced by Craig Tipton who was Upper Adams left fielder in their victory over Gettysburg. Mifflin County would bat around not once but twice in the second and third innings scoring a combined six teen runs in those two innings. By that time the missing Upper Adams starters had showed up at the field only to find their team down in a hole that they just could not overcome. Upper Adams scored their only runs of the game in the bottom of the third inning not off of their own hits but Mifflin County players’ errors. Upper Adams did not get their first hit of the game until the fourth inning when the score was an insurmountable 19-3. The fone bright spot for Upper Adams was that the game only decid ed the size of the trophy that they were to be awarded. In beating Gettysburg, Monday night, Upper Adams had their’ ticket punched to play in the Babe Ruth state ‘tournament to be held the week end of July 19th in Mifflin . But for Gladhill, the toss still didn’t go down all that well. “We were embarrassed out there but that just goes to show the power of Mifflin County,” he said. “As I say, pitching is the heart of baseball and tonight not only did we not have our Pitching we didn’t even have pitchers Pitching in the game but kids who maybe had done it only a few times ever. “But have to be extremely proud of Thy team as this game was an example of just how big their guts are as they battled every inning and showed just how much heart they have.
