Dorothy Jack Epps took sick quite suddenly Saturday 28th and Joe Salazar made a comforta ble bed in back of his station wagon and took Jack to the hospital. Jack's wife Margaret, accompanied him as far as Deming. The ambulance came down and took Jack on to the hospital at Fort Bayard. At this writing we don't know how Jack is but we hope he is better by now. Mrs. Gertrude Gutierrez ar rived home Sunday 29th from a visit to her mother and son, Lawrence Bailey of Lela, Tex as. She reports she is a grand mother once more. A baby girl was born to Lawrence and his wife Sadie while she was there. Mrs. Millie Hassman and her young daughter Amy from Tu cson, Ariz., were here visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Guy Petty last week. On her way here she stopped in Deming and her young daughter Amy was baptised last Saturday 21st Her godparents are Mr. and Mrs Phillips Jaramillio from Albuquerque, N. M. Amy was baptised at the Holy Fam ily Church by Father Saxon be fore he left for Los Angeles, Calif. Fred Hassman came in the car Saturday 28th and took them home Sunday. Mrs. Mary Bell (Tio) Robin son from Deming spent a few days in Columbus last week visiting old friends here. Mrs. Robinson lived in Columbus for a good many years, prior to moving to Deming. Mrs. Mary Lee Gaskill is driving a new 1958 Chevrolet car, purchased from Brem Chevrolet in Deming. Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Breen and sons of El Paso, Texas were here visiting the past weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Breen, Sr. They took in the Columbus Kids Ro deo. Mrs. Mary Lee Gaskill en joyed having her two daugh ters, Mrs. Mary Evelyn Shep pard and her two daughters of El Paso and Mrs. Iris Smyer and son from Deming spend ing the weekend with her. Mr. and Mrs. Silo Montez ‘drove to Deming last Saturday 28th’ to meet his father and mother from Hatch. They came to visit them for a few days. Mr. Montez is school custodian here at Columbus School. Oral Burnett was on the sick list the early part of the week with the flu. The Baptist summer encamp ment will be at Glenwood, July 25th. A lot of the children are planning on attending and hav ing a week of enjoyment in the The Youth Rally held at the Bethel Church in Deming Sat urday night June 28th was very enjoyable to all that attended with a lot of good singing and preaching featured.
