Thursday, July 3,1981OIL GAME HELPED THIS COLORED CITIZENC• ♦ cs:vasimNwWill Kimbell is one colored man that The oil on his land really helped. He1 owned a little sandy land farm out near the Reunion Grounds on which he made a comfortable living, being a good farmer, and when oil was found on it he did not spend the income in riotous living and for automobiles and pianos, as some of his neighbors did, but went up into the black land sec-. -tion of Limestone county—northwest [ F corner—and bought 915 acres of good land on which he is now living and working enough to keep him busy, while he rents out the balance. Will was in Mexia Wednesday on one of his regular trips and told the editor what he has in the way of crops. He has 400 acres in cotton on land that normally yields from half to Ihree-fourts of a bale to the acre, while 300 acres are in grain and other feed for man and beast. He also has ebout thirty good cows in the pasture; besides his work stock and some pigs, and he thinks he will be able to make both ends meet long after his land down here ceases to produce oil. His crops are in good condition. Will has been reading the Herald for more than twenty years, and always keeps his subscription paid up in advance. Of course he is still on the mailing list.Pity that more of his race did not use their oil money as he did and thus* €lt; put them on easy street. fhiYVihiwfcin
