FREEBORN Roses and strawberries have real ly made their appearance here so it must be June, but don’t ask me when the corn will ripen as we are afraid of frost. Mrs. A. D. Scoville has been having a short visit from her sister, Mrs. Clough and two daughters who left here Friday for Seattle, Wash., where they may decide to stay. The masons have not put in the basement for A. T. Schoen’s barn so it does not look as if he could get it ready for the new hay crop. We realize what a railroad is not this week for only construction trains are run and freight is not delivered, and passengers can stay at me. Mr. and Mrs. Swenson and cildren visited their relatives, the Lee’s and Horum’s the first of the week. Miss Jennie Purdie went to Alden Wednesday to stay several days and will have dental work done while there. Willard Jones went to Albert Lea Monday and Wednesday he passed through a serious operation for ap pendicitis. His father and mother were both down and he is called as well as could be expected. Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Borland have a bright baby boy which came Monday morning, June 24th. ~All join in congratulations and wish a useful life to the new son. Five livery teams brought up the ladies’ society from A. Lea to Mrs. Soren Larson's Thursday and all en joyed the trip even if the Alphabet did disappoint them. Mrs. Henry Hunte and Fred Rafoth were in Albert Lea Thursday when their sister, Miss Hannah Rafoth, passed through her operation at the hospital for appendicitis. All hope she will make a good recovery.
