The Homer Index oflast Saturday says: A rich strike is reported from the head of Calliban Creek, which empties into Mono Lake at Wilson’s ranch, two raites southwest from the mouth of Mill Creek. The new discovery was made by a Mexican just above Callihan’s and Walker’sclaunson the same stream, and the vein, which is of good size, la said to curry a streak from three to live inches in width which is literally alive with free gold. A good deal of rich float gold quartz lias from time to time been found in the steep ravines leading down from the high ridge in question, but heretofore no quartz of the same character could be found in situ. The quartz of the Mexican vein, however, is said to be of precisely the same character a9 fcthat of the rich float*
