ObituaryClara Craft ZenderClara Craft Zender of Coralville, died Tuesday, June 25 at the Beverly Manor Care Center after a brief illness. She was 88.Services were at 11 a.m. Friday, June 28 at the George L. Gay Funeral Home. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Friday at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine.Mem orial donations may be made to the Congregational Church of Algona.Mrs. Zender was born Dec. 12, 1896, in Hazen, Ark., adaughter of Joseph and Mary Vitek Dud-ek. She was known as Scoop to her friends. She married George Craft and he died in 1934. She then married Frank Zender in September, 1947 and he died in 1958. For a number of yea^ she and her first husband owned and operated an automobile dealership and the Draport Inn, in Cedar Rapids. She later worked for Western Buyers Co. in Algona and Belle Plaine. She moved to Coralville in 1978 to live with her sister.She was a member of the Congregational Church in Algona and a charter member of the Algona Soroptomist Club. She was also active in her church group and was a life-master bridge player.Survivors include a stepson. Gene Zender of Fairmont, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Pauli Sevy of Denver, Colo.; two nephews, Pat Gran-tham and Gary Grantham, both of Iowa City; and a niece, Hariett Dean of Coralville. A sister died earlier.
