Human Relations Workshop Opens At WTA two week Human Relations Workshop, the first of its kind offered by the West Texas State University College of Education, opens Friday for 28 area school teachersThe workshop, which carries three semester hours of credit, will be conducted by Dr Jack Nance, associate professor of education who came to West Texas State last fallFor the last six years he has been a consultant to the South west Center for Human relations Studies and the Center for Equal Kducational Opportunities, both at the University of OklahomaThe object of the workshop is the “study of group processes, interpersonal relations and group dynamics as they relate to the classroom. Nance said.In addition, he said, it is hoped the teachers will develop “Skills for more meaningful and re warding human relationships in and out of the classroomHe said the workshop will be conducted as u self-learning pro cess with no formal presen tations “Each session will be a total unit of skill building he addedNance wild the purpose of the workshop is to enable teachers to develop communications under the pressures of a classroom and to make them more sensitive to students.The workshop will open w ith a banquet at 8:30 p m Friday in the East Dining Hall on campus with the teachers participating in simulated games afterwardsOn Saturday the class session will run from9:30 a m to 4 p.m in room 216 of the Activities Center w'tth the remaining sessions being held from 1-6 p.m until Julv 13.“We hope to offer more seminars ot this kind in the future/* said Nance, who rtlt; eived a Master of Education Degree at South em Methodist University and a Ph.D. at Oklahoma Teachers enrolled tor the first workshop inc lude Beverly Birtell, Marianne Dixon, I era Rash, Pauline Smith and Ozlme Ward, all of Borger; Curtis Boase.
