Bids were asked today for the $980,000 Freeman hospital build ing program which includes con struction of a four-story addition immediately south of the hospital and the construction of a nursing home after razing of the present fifth floor of the hospital. Paul Detrick, administrator of the hospital, said contractors can get plans for the building project from Hewitt - Royer, architects and engineers, 707 Westport road, Kansas City. OPEN BIDS JULY 26 The bids will be opened at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon, July 26, in the Connor hotel. The con tract expected to be awarded a few days after the bids are opened. Detrick said several alternates have been included in the plans to permit, if necessary, a deviation of 5 per cent from the estimated construction cost. Government regulations permit only a 5 per cent deviation from the estimated cost in awarding the contract, Detrick said. The gov ernment gave final approval to the hospital plans last week. The building project will in crease the bed capacity of the hospital from 109 to 165. The addi tion will house, in addition to pa tient rooms, a new kitchen, new heating and laundry facilities, new maternity suite, new surgical suite, new central service quarters, a new administrative area, new emergency room, a pharmacy and a rehabilitation area for occupa tional and physical therapy.
