New England Elks Hold Convention At Newport. R. I.The Thirtieth Annual Convention of the Now England States Association IBPOE of W. met in Newport, R\ I., recently.Delegates attending from Hartford were Dorothy McCoy, Lucy Webb. Georgiana Woods, ElizabethDavis, Clara Thomas Nora Ellis, Esther Denson and Hortense Saxon.The ball on Friday night was largely attended at the Masonic Temple, music by Duke Olivet 's Orchestra of Fall River, Mass.The Mat or of Newport, the local j Exalted Ruler and head of the American Legion were among dignitaries present at the ball to welcome all the visitors to the city and wish them a succesful session.Saturday morning business sessions beg;: n with delegates from Massachusetts. Rhode Island and Connecticut. Herbert Jcnes, Grand Esteemed Leading Knight of Washington. D. C.. was honored guest of the Association. Marion Stewart was elected president of the daughters and Dr. Carter L. Marshall of New Haven was reelected president of the brothers.Satuiday night was open house at all the clubs and night spots in Newport.On Sunday morning services were held at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church. Brother Herbert Jones was guest speaker, and the Trel-Alpha Chorus of Hartford sang.
