. Lt Col . Vincent W. Howard, a commanding officer at Thomasville Army Air Field, departed Sunday for an overseas assignment. Col. Howard came there as a captain, and in two years time rose to Lt. Colonel, assumed com mand of the Thomasville Army Air Field in December, 1944. It is with a great deal of regret, that Col. Howard left Thomasville and before leaving he requested that this open letter to the citi zens of Thomasville be published: “I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for providing me such a lovely city in which to spend two of the happiest years of my life. The citizens make a city a pleasant place to live. You, the citizens of Thomasville, can be justly proud of a job well done. May I at some time in the near future have the opportunity of again residing in the ‘City of Roses’, with amiable people and pleasant living.” Sincerely, Signed VINCENT W. HOWARD Lt.
