Obituary and Short Biography.[ An old settler passed away last week I in the death of Sylvester Potter, who j was homed from his late home Sunday afternoon, the services being conducted by Bey. S, S. Hilecher of the Presbyterian church.The deceased was bom near Port Hope, Ontario county, Canada, in 232S. j In 1S54 he moved to Ogle county, BL, i where he was named January IS, 1857,I to Mary E. Niles, to whom one son was born, dying in early manhood. In 1864 he moved to Benton county, Iowa, where he has since resided. His second wife was Flora Blanchard, to whom were bom three children, two of whom, Stella A. and Kcscoe B». together with an aged sister and his present wife, formerly 3i.ar.ch Roach, to whom he was married June 27,1SS9, remain to mourn his loss. Although the past four years have been years of great suffering he. still hoped for recovery that he might be able to do something for those he loved, until the second stroke of paralysis last week.He was s kind neighbor, a loving father and a good husband. The burial was in the Evergreen cemetery.
