Take the 24 bonrs cycle race at Herne Hill on Saturday last. Barely a thousand were present during the four hours or thereabouts idle raoe occupied ; the same state of things, or rather a worse state, was that at Stamford Bridge, where the athletic ciob—the L.A.C., to wit—in spife of having a splendid programme, had barely 30U spectators present.
