I accent the compliment, and make haste to sav to the American public that if noninated and elected the leading policy of my administration shall be to curtail expenditures and reduce the number of emoluments ot offices, beginning at Washington, and applying the rule rigidly to every State. The bodv politic bleeds at every pore, and is dying of excessive hcrmorhagc. It must be stopped somehow ; and if the political actors can not furnish a remedy, and the peoph' of the American Union consider mv plan the one that the times demand, T shall accept the Presidency of the United States, and carry oiit this new policy to the end.Yours,Private Dai.zell.
