City ParkDec. 23,1909 - The ordinance accepting the Garden of the Gods as a Christmas gift to the city of Colorado Springs was formally passed by the city council last night. Mayor Henry F. Avery and the four commissioners voting unanimously. Resolutions of thanks will be engraved on parchment and sent to the children of the late Charles E. Perkins, president of the Burlington railroad, who, a short time before his death, scribbed in pencil on an old envelope his desire that his children should give the famous property to this city. - The Denver Times.
