He is known as one of the nicest guys and cleanest drivers at the Tri-County Speedway, and one of the mostsuccessful. •It hasn’t been a Cinderellasuccess story for the 33-year-old McWilliams, who started his racing career in 1955 behind the wheel of a 1940 flathead Ford. After three years at the Hilltop S'peedway, he had a two-year vacation from racing, returningLawrence bur gChuck McWilliamsInd., in 1960. In 1964 at theNorthern Kentucky Speedway he began consistently hitting the checkered flag and wound up that year as track champion.In 1968, McWilliams, drivingfor Skileraft Sheet MetalProducts as ^iis sponsor, roaredto 18 feature victories and the track championship.
