Miss Jeanne Gibson and Charles Earl Birden Jr. were united in mar riage by Rev. Dale Hamilton at the Flora Methodist Church at 2:00 Sun day afternoon, June 20. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gibson, southeast of Flora. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Earl Birden Sr., First Street, Frankfort. The bride wore a full-length blue gown with an over jacket of Chan tilly lace with pointed bridal sleeves. Her blue bow veil was just below the eyes and she carried a pink rose bud colonial bouquet on a white Bible. The bride was given in marri age by her father. Miss Jayne Kirk, Jackson, Tenn., attended as maid of honor. She was attired in a dark blue street length dress and she carried a white and blue bouquet of carnations. Miss Kathy Gibson carried the rings for her sister on a satin pillow. Kathy wore a blue dress with lace bodice. David Birden attended his brother as best man. Jack Reed, of Lafayette, organist, played bridal music and accompani ed Richard Lotts, also of Lafayette, as he sang ‘‘O Promise Me” and “I Love You Truly.” Mr. Lotts has taken first place in vocal contests for several years. Mother of the bride chose a gold brocade sheath dress with white accessories, while the mother of the groom appeared in a tan lace dress and white accessories. Both moth ers were presented with corsages of white carnations. The grandmothers of the bride, Mrs. Catherine Helvie and Miss Mabel Gibson, also were given carnation corsages. Ushers were L/Cpl. Marion E. Gib son and Roger Gibson, brothers of the bride; Jerry Jacks, of Frank fort, and Dana Hutson, of Cutler, friends of the groom. The ceremony was given at the altar with Lowell Johnson and Curt Gibson serving as candle-lighters. A floral piece of white gladioli and blue carnations was the bride’s chosen bouquet, which was placed near the altar. A reception was held in the church basement immediately following the ceremony. A four-tiered cake topped with a miniature bride and groom, blue punch, nuts and mints, were served to 100 guests from a white covered table with blue nylon swags and pinned with white roses, holding two blue candles.
