The appeal says; ‘This coming Fourth of July, should be observed throughout the land in a spirit which recalls all the significance of the day to a democracy at war for its ideals and its threatened existence. Noise and useless illumination and unthinking celebration have no proper place in ’times such as these. Let there be a return to those ceremonies and addresses which prevailed in other days/’WONDERFUL RED CROSS DOGS.A letter from a Harvard man in the American ambulance service in France, says:Last evening a couple of fellows came around to' *“ '— — ~ lL iL f ♦'Vi ft (n rv Allp *R *»/■]Cross dogs. We were anxious to see them work, so i ran oil and hid in some bushes. I lay down, placing my cap under me so that the dog could not find it. They sent one of the dogs out to find me.
