Sixty cattle were driven over the trail from Valdez to Tanana. They were, only twenty-three days in making the trip and arrived in fine shape. Driving cattle over the trail has been found to be much easier and less costly than freighting them by water the entire distance. It is believed that with the construction of a summer trail between Tanana and Valdez the miners will not be compelled to use cold storage meats that have been shipped from the outside, as anyone, even the big operators, can then import their own cattle.
