mmaWe deeply regret to learn that Piof.Middleton has accepted the presidency ofThe Durham Female Institute During his stay in Wilson, both as associate of Prof.Warren in the Wilson Collegiate Institute, and more lately as Principal of The Wilson Male Academy, he hasand enviable reputation as an excellent and zealous and painstaking teacher, andwe believe a brilliant destiny, in the highand noMe and exalted vocation which he has chosen, a ill crown hitattainments in a halo of undying lustre.He is a genial, warm hearted, sociable,excellent Christian gentleman, and we do indeed most sorely regret to lose the influence of his splendid example and the charms of bis delightful society.We heard a distinguished educator saythat Wilson now offered a better opening for a big male school than any other place in Eastern N. C. While Greensboro, Winston, Asheville, Durham and Raleigh, areoffering such inducements for the lishment of seats of learning in theirmidst, cannot Wilson afford to enter the field and offer some inducement to continue so good a work so auspiciously begun bv Prof Middleton. And in this connec-(rtion we would suggest that it would be a good idea to secure the services of a teacher, who had a wife and who would be willing to take charge of the boarding department, and thus combine the comforts of a home with the advantages of educationaltraining.
