From Our Own Correspondent. Mr. George Hall is preparing to build a fine brick residence on his farm south of town. Farmers are all busy cutting wheat, some fields of which are considerably damaged by smut. This town and vicinity will celebrate the 4th on Saturday next. Let all turn out and have a good time. Mr. J. Hall has taken a contract to build a bridge across Coon Creek, one mile east of town, a much needed improvement. Everybody seems to be satisfied with the nominees for President on both sides. This is especially the case with the Republicans. A large barn on the farm of Mr. Ver millya, two miles north of Evansport, was burned on Saturday night last. All the horses and most of the other contents were saved. The cause of the fire is unknown. Many of our Democratic brothers were in attendance at the convention last Saturday, but their candidates for office failed to re ceive nomination. Cause, too many Dem ocrats. Better come over boys, and then you can have a nomination whenever you want it, “OCCASIONALLY.”
