Miss Bertha G. Kline 78, of 4631 Walker is probably one of the oldest students in any American university of college. Miss Kline is taking a course in government at the University. “I was very much interested in this course, so I got special permission to take just the one course,” she smiled. Miss Kline has lived in Houston for the past 48 years and taught at Eastwood Elementary School for a number of years. She retired from teaching four years ago. Born in Pennsylvania and reared in Virginia, the veteran school teacher went to college in Tennes see. Upon completion of her course there, she came to Houston and be gan her teaching career. “I don’t know yet if I will go on and get a degree,” Miss Kline said. “This weather is pretty bad.” Miss Kline rides a bus to the University every day. “I am afraid to drive a car through all this traffic,” she stated, “but I enjoy the course that I am taking so much that I don’t mind riding a bus.” The student said she might just attend the University during the fall terms after this year, because of bad weather in Houston, by Harry Wilson
