Play to star grad studentStepping from behind the spotlight into the limelight is James Butler, graduate student of the drama, who will play the masculine lead in “Broken Dishes.” a Martin Flavin production to be staged in Bovard auditorium Feb. 8 and 9.Butler, who was in charge of lighting arrangements for the department drama's last play, “Holiday,” ks cast as Cyrus Bumpsted, the henpecked head of a household of domineering females, in “Broken Dishes.”Playing the top feminine role is Virginia Patton, the blonde young lady whose performance in “Holiday” attracted a large amount of favorable comment. Miss Patton had a rich background of theatrical experience prior to her coming to SC.Barbara Wilcox, a transfer from Pasadena junior college, is undertaking the part of Cyrus Bump-sted’s wife Jenny. Known about campus for her impersonation of well known figures at talent shows Miss Wilcox essays .the more difficult job on the stage of trying to raise three daughters—and, what’s more, marry them off to young men who meet with her approval.
