Owing’ tu the fact ; i that many witnesses were tried in i ( each case, a grout deal of time was { j consumed in taking evidence. t; Attorney Baldwin, of Slaton, ar- t j rire,i Tuesday and assisted county t I attorney John R, McGee with the lt;prosecution. iThe first ease tried was the State ( of Texas vs. Con Caraway, for gam- t ing, a verdict of not guilty was re- t turned. tImmediately following the dismiss- t ul of this ease another case, the State i of Texas vs. Con Caraway was tried i for gaming, and a verdict of guilty was returned, with a fine of twenty-five dollars assessed, being the full ( capacity of the law in a ease of its . kind.The third and last case was the State of Texas vs. Jesse Fulton, for gaming. Late Saturday evening the jury was evenly unable to agree, and the case will be brought up in another term of codrt.
