Minister, Who Gained Educa tion Late in Life, to Tell of Work in France. SINGER WILL ASSIST Pr. Walter E. Sprouts of Jacksonville, Il, who will speak at the Big Meeting at English’s opera house Sunday after noon, will tell the story of his remark able career. His range of activities extends from the plains of Texas, where he was a cow puncher, to France, where he ad dressed soldiers in many camps. Franklin N. Taylor of Indianapolis, who accompanied Dr. Sprouts to France and sang at all his meetings, will sing the song which is said to have been most frequently called for by soldiers. It is “This Land of Mine.” The Athe naeum male quartet also will sing and an orchestra will play after the doors open at 3 p. m. STUDIED WITH HIS CHILDREN IN TEXAS. Dr. Sprouts at the age of 24 was a cow Puncher in Texas, with a wife and two children. Dissatisfied with his life he entered school with his two children to learn to read, write and spell. At the end of five years he had graduated from college and in three more was a grad uate of a theological seminary. He be came a minister and since returning from France he has again appeared in the pulpit. ‘ Ministers of the city will hear Dr. Don Tullis, secretary of the state body of the interchurch world movement, at the meeting of the Ministers’ association at the Roberts Park M. E. church Monday. Rev. O. W. Fifer, pastor of the Central Avenue church, will discuss the survey work; Rev. T. W. Grafton, pastor of the Third Christian church, will speak on “The Budget,” and Rev. Frederick E. Taylor, pastor of the First Baptist church, will speak on “The Spirtual Sig nificance of the Movement.” Maj. Earle F. Hites of the Volunteers of America, will lead evangelistic serv ices At the Edwin Ray M. E. church dur ing February, the pastor, Rev. F. A. Steelee, announces. He will be assisted by E.
