Obituary.Jacob Weingert was born in Lebanon Co., Pa., March 31,1835. When he was about a year old his parents moved to Franklin Co., near Columbus, Ohio, where he grew up to manhood. From Ohio he went to Illinois where in 1863 he was married to Elizabeth Hiner. In 1865 he moved to Kane township, Benton county, Iowa, where he lived until nearly three years ago when he moved to Lyons county, near Rock Rapids, and remained there until his death. In early life he united with the Lutheran church. He was a great reader, especially of the Bible, which he read to his children a great deal. In his last illness he did not suffer much but gradually failed in strength and grew weary and frequently expressed a wish to die and be with Christ, in whom he trusted. He asked his children to teach their children to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. He died Jan. 22d, 1895. aged 59 years', 9 months and 21 days. The funeral services were held at Mr. Macy’s residence in Vinton and were conducted by S. T. Shortess. His wife and his three children attended the funeral. S. |[Belle Plaine papers please copy.]
