On February 1, 1995, the Royal Bank and its customers will lose a valued employee and helpful banker. This is the day when Hertha Martens will begin the easy life of retirement. Mrs. Martens joined the Bank on May 12, 1975 as a Stenographer in Rivers. She was promoted to a DDA/Proof Clerk position on March 18, 1985 and then assumed a Stenographer/Proof position on September 25, 1989, the position from which she will retire. Hertha's career began when she was employed for three years by Frank Lawson Sons when she was fresh out of business college. Three more years were spent working for Wawnesa Mutual Insurance in Brandon. During this time she married her husband, Eric, and later had three children. In 1975, she began to work at the Rivers Branch of the Royal Bank and has continued to be a faithful employee of theirs for twenty years. Hertha recently commented that her years with the Royal Bank hold many fond memories of the friends and acquaintances she had made during her career. Hertha's position a the Royal Bank will be filled by Karen Cullen, a familiar face to all. Hertha and her husband have been long time residents of the Rapid City area until their recent move to Rivers in December of 1994. Hertha has no immediate plans for retirement but look out golf courses. FIERE SHE COMES!!! Hertha Martens
