News Herald Staff Report FORT WALTON BEACH — Ran dy Florence scored seven straight points in the fourth quarter as Fort Walton Beach pulled away from Mosley for a 61-55 District 2-AAAA victory Friday night. Florence's game-high 24 points moved the Vikings to 3-0 and guaranteed them at least a first place tie in the conference. Mosley fell to 0-3, 8-7 overall. Rutherford’s most lopsided win of the year was a 81-0 win over Richards two weeks ago. The Rams improved to 8-4 while Tate, in its first year of wrestling, remained winless. Rutherford travels to Fort Walton Beach Choctawhatchee Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match. Stafford took a shot and was fouled by Laurel Hill’s Robert Moore. The basket counted and Stafford made the free throw. Ponce de Leon’s next game is Tuesday night at Paxton. But the Tigers outscored the Hornets 13-7 the rest of the way to coast to the win. Delton Gardner scored 21 points, grabbed 20 rebounds and dished out nine assists for Cottondale. Scottie White scored 15 and Nicky Harwell 11 for the Hornets. Cottondale drops to 6-12. The Hornets travel to Panama City tonight to battle Panama City Christian. Marianna improved to 12-2 with its third win over Malone this year. The Bulldogs take on District AA rival Chipley Tuesday night in Chipley. The Vikings’ seventh straight vic tory gave them a 3-0 district record, assuring them of a bye in the district tournament to be held at Fort Walton Beach Feb. 18-20. Martin led the Vikings with a game-high 14 points followed by Brazier and Dorman with 13 points each.
