INotes from District 46The primary Department has been testing corn.One Friday afternoon in Jan-ruary the children helped make the “Rag Dolls.”They dug out six kernels from the ears and placed then in the numbered squares of the longwet strip of cloth, then their teacher took the rolls home to keep moist and warm by the stove untill they germinated.When one week later they were brought back to school everyone was surprised and pleased.They found that the wet dirty ear of corn that little George Madden picked up in the road by the school did not germinate.—s Lasson 1 — Corn that is exposed to the weather is unfit for seed.• iThey also found that the ten ears the teacher bought at the Post Office produced stronger roots and sprouts than any ears they had brought from home.
