A year ago William Abbott, now popularly known as “Billy,*’ a barter ier at the White House saloon, where he worked for several years, was at tacked with locomotor ataxias and was taken to St. Mark’s hospital, where he remained for several months. Yesterday at 10 ° 15, while the atten tion of one of the nurses was otherwise oecoupied, he jumped from a second story window, adding to the injuries of his left ankle a compound commin uted fracture of the right leg just above the ankle. Abbott was only par tially dressed at the time. He was at once returned to his room, when it became evident that he was insane, and it is with the utmost disculty that he is restrained. At a late hour last evening he did not realize what he had done, and insisted that he be sent home, as there was nothing the mat ter with him.
