Pioneer Fremont Resident Feels the Weight of Adversity. FREMONT, Neb., Jan. 29.—(Spe cial.)—Robert Kittle, one of Fremont's earliest settlers, was ejeced from his home yesterday afternoon by the sheriff who was armed with the proper papers. At one time Mr. Kittle was well off, but in late years his money and property has gradually slipped from his grasp. Some years ago he was forced to place a mortgage on his home prop erty, consisting of a full square, six blocks east of the court house, on Fifth Street. The house is a large one and was the first structure built of brick in the city. He was unable to pay in terest and four years ago foreclosure proceedings were instituted on a $5,000 loan. Mr. Kittle is something of a lawyer and managed to keep it drag ging in court until last August, when a decree of foreclosure was granted. Mr. Kittle then filed fifty-seven objec tions to the verdict and these were all overruled as a session of court held last week. The defendant gave Mr. Kittle notice to quit the premises, but he refused. Yesterday afternoon Sheriff Kreader and Deputy Sheriff Lydick and five assistants called at the residence and read their authority for ousting him. Mr. Kittle then ordered them off the premises, but instead the officers broke in the house and had his belongings carried into the street. Mrs. Kittle guarded the interior with a revolver, but she failed to make use of it in any way. After dark the goods were moved into the Osterman house on east Eleventh street. Mr. Kittle lost most of his friends years ago by his eccentric ways, but nearly all of the old setttlers sympa thize with him. Rev. H. W. Russell, national super intendent of the ‘Américan’ anti-saloon league, addressed a fair-sized audience at the Congregational church last even ing on liquor traffic. Miss Daisy McGiverin evertained her friends last evening at ‘high five. Dr. G. Bradford is confined to his home. He suffered a stroke of paraly sis last evening.
