THE AMATEUR CUP.OLD WILSON IANS v. HUNSLET.The pmd a* Danmark Hill, whore this match watt decided this afternoon, woe in a terribly greasy state, a ctremnstaaoe not to be wondered at considering the inclement weather. Last nkht’s rain had cleared the surface of the turf from enow and ioe, but an inch or two below the grass the going was very treacherous. Hunslet were on the ground some time before the advertised hour for starting, but the Wilsonians did nos arrive until late, and some impatienoe was manifested by the spectators at the delay. Even when the home team did appear they were one short, Groasmith turning out ten minutes after the start. Hunslet kicked off and at once pressed, two corners falling to them in the first five minutes, but both v re badly placed and came to nothing. After Grossmith arrived the Wilsonians had quite as much of the game as the Yorkshire men, play being fast in spite of the heavy ground. There a as not a great amount of seienoe, but what the game lacked in that respect was fullv oomjeasated for by the energy and enthusiasm which the players instilled into their work. Hunslet got a free kick for hands right in frout of the home goal, and I'ratt shot into the net through a forest of legs, but the referee ruled that the ball had passed through without touching a sooond player. Boon after Baker, in saving a long low shot, slipped and dropped the ball, and Taylor, dashing up, scored the first goal for Hunslet, very easily. The Northerners oon tinued to have rather the best of the exchanges, but the offside taotics of their extreme wing men sailed many chances. Both Andrews and Smith were in splendid trim at fnll back for the Wil-sonians, and the halves also worked hard, but the passing of the visitors was vastly superior to that of the horns forwards. Hunslet played anything but a gentle gams, the backs using their weight, and free kicks were somewhat frequent At last, after the Wilsonians had bad a torn at pressing, Taylor got away, and running through scored a pretty goal, thus placing the Tykes 2 goals ahead. Directly after a misktelc by Smith let in the three iaafcle forwards of the visitors, and a third goal was the eoneeqneuoe, Baker, who had saved many shots in smart style, having no ohance. Half time was whistled immediately after with the score standing 3 to 0 in favour of HunsletFinal : Hunslet 6, Old Wilsonians 0.CHESHT7NT v. OLD BRIGHTONIANS.
