Romance in Real Life.—California life is a romance more intensely interesting than any ever written by Sue or Dumas, and possesses the advantage of being an u o’er true tale.” The following incident is a chapter which has just come to our knowledge: Twenty-three years ago Patrick Dunn emigrated from Kings county, Ireland, ^nd not having sufficient funds to pay the passage of all his family, left two of his children behind him in the care of his father. He sought and found a home in Canada, where he resided for several years, and where two more children, a son and daughter, were born to him. The accessions to his family were communicated to his father in Ireland, and the children were informed of the fact that they had brothers and sisters, hut they had no ( further knowledge of them. The father suddenly died, leaving his children to the care of their mother, but she surviving only a short time, the children were taken care of by a friend, and all communication between the two branches of the family ceased. Time passed on, and the children grew to man’s estate, and in the course of events two of the boys found their way to California, and by a curious coincidence both of them took board in a boarding house in the northern portion of the city. After a time the)7 were introduced to each other by the landlord as namesakes. They passed the evening together, and met the following morning in the wash room, when the oldest asked the youngest what part of Ireland he came from, lie replied that he was born in Canada, but that his father came from Kings county, Ireland. He further stated that his father died when he was quite young. The elder then asked if he knew his mother’s maiden name, and it was given him. Further questious and answi rs fuiiowed, w hen they discovered that they were brothers, and they made known the discovery to the other boarders in the house There was a great time in that little household when the fact became generally known. They had beeu boarding at the same house, and dining at the same table, for several weeks, without having the remotest idea of their relationship. Truly, truth is stranger than fiction.— Call.
