Explosion op a Lijcikkie Match Manukaotony at Biustol.—An explosion has just occurred lit the lueifer match manufactory carried on 1 v Air. Grfiltn, of Hi istol, at Chew Stoke. Somerset* by \V.»ich a portion of tlie roof was shattered, and four of the persons employed upon the premises severely injurnl. The explosion took place in the morning, at the time when the workmen usually take their break fast, and consequently they were not all in the building ; six men and boys, however, were sitting near the stove, partaking of some fond they had brought with them, preparatory to the resumption of their labour. Near to the stove was an earthen vessel, in which a quantity of the combustible composition with which the matches are coated, lav ready for dipping the splints in it. Some glue which-was melting on the lire unfortunately boiled over, and, the flames being communicated to the stuff in the earthen pipkin, an immediate explosion, attended by a terrific noise; followed. The men were ail thrown down with great violence, and four of them, named Alatthcw Bryant, Aaron Gay, Edwnn.1 Tyler, and George Holbrook, were burnt over their faces, bunds, c%; some of them very severely. Holbrook was immediately taken to his home, but the others, whose injuries are of a more extensive nature, were carried to the Bristol Koval Infirmary, where they now lie.
