Jinks thwarted a late Falcon ral ly to edge Lewis 53-31, Blue edged out Everitt 49-48, a pair of Orange Spartans turned in impressive per formances in Bruner’s 54-38 triumph over Pryor and Burley Bonner scored 36 points in Richbourg’s 73-61 win over Meigs during boys junior high school basketball action Monday night. In girls JHS action, the Meigs Lady Wildcats and the Blue Spar tans went to overtime to post vic tories over their opponents, with Meigs defeating Richbourg 60-57 and Blue ousting Everitt 38-34. Pryor made it a winless Brunei night with a 40-33 victory over the Lady Orange and Jinks handed Lewis a 41-35 loss. Randy Florence bombed the buckets for 21 points, including a basket with 21 seconds remaining that capped a furious fourth quarter rally lifting Blue over the top. Todd Mueller chipped in 12 points for Blue, now 5-3 overall. McClen don was high scorer for Everitt with 21 markers. eKory McGowan and Chris Brower teamed up for 45 points, outscoring the entire Pryor squad in the Bruner Orange Spartans’ rout of the winless Pirates. McGowan bagged 25 points and hauled in 22 rebounds, while Brower bombed the buckets for 20 markers and grabbed 14 boards. Scott Renshaw was the sole Pirate in double figures with 10 points. Orange upped their record to 4-3. Pryor is now 0-8. @ Lewis, 2-6, had a strong com eback effort fall short. Jinks led by as much as 10 points early in the fourth quarter only to have the Falcons cut the margin to two with seven seconds left. But Lewis could come no closer. Cornell Tinner had 22 points for Lewis, while Lewis Dixon added 13. Bonner picked up 11 rebounds and 10 steals all game, and drilled in 12 markers the fourth quarter, as Richbourg pulled away from a 34-33 halftime edge, outscoring Meigs 39-28 the second half for the m, upping their season record to 5-2. Joey Parker aided the Roadrun ner offensive with 11 markers, Aaron Tew had nine and Marty Hurst hit the backboards for 13 re bounds. Dennis McKelvey paced Meigs with 16 points, Mike Leone hit 14 and Brian Runkle nine, Raychelle King sank a field goal and a free throw to cement the win in overtime as the Meigs Lady Wildcats turned back Richbourg to stay one-half game behind Ruckel in the conference standings. Jennifer Martin pumped in 11 of her 14 points the final stanza as the Wildcats outscored Richbourg 22-17, sending it into overtime when reserve forward Deena Barnes snagged a rebound and drove the length of the court for two points to knot the score 55-all. Meigs picked up a Barnes field goal and King’s three points while Richbourg managed only a Marie Cox basket to win, raising their record to 5-1 in conference and 6-2 overall. Richbourg dropped to 2-3 and 4-3, Anna Turner paced Richbourg with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Regina Pugh chipped in 13 markers. Dionne Knight aided the Meigs attack with 12 points and 10 boards. A quartet of Blue Spartans picked up a field goal apiece in overtime as Bruner outscored Everitt 8-4 to salvage a win at Panama City. In the pivotal overtime, Kelli Bray, Melissa Dorman, Safina Turner and Alesha Flag all scored baskets to put the nail in the coffin for the Eagles. Bray paced the Blue Spartans with 14 points, Dor man hit 11, Flag seven and Turner six. Shannon Norviel bucketed 16 points and Shawn Sibley 12 as the Pryor Lady Pirates staved off an Orange rally for their victory at the Bruner gym. Shannon Burns aided the Pirate attack with nine caroms. Jennifer Weber tallied 15 points for Orange and Kaycee Hardy hit the boards for nine rebounds. Pryor improved to 6-1, Orange dropped to 1-6. Pam Miller nailed 18 points and Cathy Nelson 11 as Jinks rolled up a 21-10 halftime lead and fought back a fourth-quarter Lady Falcon rally for a victory. Joanne Doucette paced the Lady Falcons, now 1-7, with 14 points in cluding six the final period when the Falcons outscored the Hornets 12-7 but failed to turn the tide. Chantelle Redenbacher poured in 12 points and snagged 16 rebounds for Lewis.
