(Continued From Page 23) Brig. Gen. Foy Expires At 79 MEYERSDALE — Brigadier General George L. Foy (National Guard Ret.), 79, died yesterday in Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born in Meyersdale Jan. 6, 1898, he was a son of the late Samuel and Mary (Kumpf) Foy. Married three times, he was preceded in death by two wives and is survived by his widow, Mrs. Kathryn (Werner) Foy. Gen. Foy was retired from the Army with 41 years of service. He was a graduate of Fawcett School of Art and had been awarded the Commendation Medal and the Legion of Merit. He was a member of the Meyersdale, Veteran of Foreign Wars; was charter member of and past com mander of Meyersdale American Legion and had served as mayor of Meyersdale from 1966 to 1972 and was public relations director of Meyersdale 1966-73. Gen. Foy was past president and honorary member of the Meyersdale Rotary Club, was 1966 Meyersdale Citizen of The Year and was past director of the Meyersdale Maple Festival. Also, he was past heene of the Meyersdale chamber of Commerce, past director of the American Red Cross and was a director of Route 219 Association and the Meyersdale Ambulance Association. He also held membership in the Hillcrest Grange and the Somerset Historical and Theological Society. Besides his widow, he is survived by a son, Robert Foy, Medford, N.J., and two brothers and two sisters. Friends will be received at the Leckemby Funeral Home.
