french memorials to BE PRESENTED TO KINFRENCH REPUBLIC PAYS HOMAGE TO AMERICAN DEAD.• The French Government are presenting Memorial Diplomas to the nearest of kin of Americans who died in the service of their country during the World War.The diploma, drawn by Frank Booth an American artist which represents one of the bas-relief of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, will bear the name of the deceased soldier with the recognition from the French people signed by President Poincaire.The Inscription.The inscription is as follows: “Tothe memory of ........... of theUnited States of America, who died for liberty during the great war, the homage of France. Signed by the President of the Republic, Poincaire.Four Dipl®m»» Presented.Four Memorial Diplomas will be presented to the nearest of kin of local boys, who lost their lives in France, The presentation will take place February 22, presumably at the Armory at a public gathering arranged under the auspices of the Charles Hagerstrom Post of the American Legion of this city. The boys from Wood County who lost their lives in France are Lieut, John Buckley, nearest of kin his mother, Mrs. Georgie Buckley, Charles Hagerstrom, nearest of kin his father, William Hager-strom, Alvin Winegarden, nearest of kin his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wine-garden of New Rome and John Fisher whose nearest of kin his parents who reside a mile from this city in the Schoumb District.
