[From the Manitoba Gazette.) His Excellency, Governor Morris and Com missioner Simpson, were visited at Govern ment House by a party of Sioux Indians of the Sisseton tribe. The Chief and spokesman of the party was Standing Buffalo, who said that this was the first time any one of the party visited his Excellency, and they were glad to have the opportunity of abaking hands with him. Their object was, to ask the Gov ernment to set apart some lands that they might cultivate, as the buffalo were getting scarce. His Excellency dismissed them, with the assurance that their requet should be laid before the proper authorities, Mr. Simp son ordered some presents to be distributed amongst them, and promised to visit them at their camp shortly. Hon. James McKay interpreted, A Novelty.—The latest novelty in the the utility of paper is the manufacture of curtains from this commodity. By the Inez steamer from San Francisco, Messrs. Tarver, Beeton and Tunstall have received a large uantity of the above articles, of beautiful patterns, not to be distinguished from the best chintz ; they are of the same description as those fitted in the saloons of the great ex hibition building. at Loodco, 18172. *
