A Mew Optra HottscThe prospects of a new opera house for Port Madison are very flattering, and we are assured by a prominent stockholder that it Is a decided fret that next season will find Fort Madison with a new play house on ground floor, with sufficient “exits,” lobbies, dressing, retiring rooms, Ac.,AcPlans are in the bands of the stockholders drawn by Bosnian A Landis, of Chicago, prominent theatrical architects, for the reconstruction ot the Bennett rink. We were shown the plans Saturday, which wili make, if closely followed, a very convenient and well appointed house for the purpose. In a very few days work of ceiling the interior will be commenced and early in the spring the entire remodeling will begin. Part of the ground oor will be provided with raiaed seats,oor to seat 600amphitheatre form, thispeople. The horseshoe shaped balcony will seat 400, making the entire capacity 1,000. The stage will be 30x40 in size with a proportionate height Pour dressing rooms, two on either side in a bulge of the proscenium, will afford comfortable apartments for the players. The stagewill be provided with the necessary appointments aud scenery from the firm of S osmn 6c Landis, who, we undcrstaod, will take the entire contract Suiiable material will cover the ceiling which will be elaborately frescoed. The building will lie seated with perforated operachairs. The floor will be arranged so that the building may be used as a skating parlor by throwing to the sides the rows of chairs. The first investment for the improvement will be $1,700 or $2,000.
