Mount Greenwood's community Council was host to 60 delegate members and guests Jan. 21 at its annual installation dinner in Ray Columb’s restaurant, 2535 W. 95th $t. Young citizen awards of the Chicago Park district were also presented to two young people from Mt. Greenwood park.Walter Jacobs, supervisor ofthe park, 3711 W. 111th st, whowas master of ceremonies for the event, reviewed the Council’s 15 years of activity. Major accomplishments have been obtaining the park site, extension of S. Kedzie ave.y and W. 111th st.f CTA bus lines to provide transportation for Mt. Greenwood, curb cutbacks on S. Kedzie ave., from W. 103rd st. to W. 115th st.Also traffic safety installations including the new traffic lights at W. 111th st. and S. Central Park ave.; meetings with the board of education to obtain the newschool at W. 113th st. and S.Spaulding ave., and to obtain a promise that eventually ninth and 10th grades will have classes in the Mt. Greenwood school.Another important project has been a branch library for Mt. Greenwood, and one is slated to open soon at W. 100th st. and S. Kedzie ave.The Council has worked with various agencies and with the suburbs for flood relief and solution to drainage problems through cleaning of ditches and sewer pipe extensions.There are 20 Mt. Greenwood organizations which are delegate members of the Council, all pooling their efforts toward all these projects, Jacobs pointed out.Officers installed includedReuben Welnak, 11038 S. Drake ave., treasurer.Outstanding young citizen awards went to Faith Drake, 3434 W. 116th St., whose award was presented by Mrs. Gertrude Bums, 11026 S. Troy st, representing the American Legion auxiliary, and Dennis Rosch-mann, 11346 S. Central Park ave., presented by Mrs. Catherine Wetzig, 9220 S. Springfield ave.,Evergreen Park, VFW auxiliary.Floral centerpiece at the dinner was presented to Mrs. Welnak,! wife of the Council president, by the dinner committee which included: Mrs. Evelyn Hrad, j 11043 S.
